Description
8" (20 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head, sculpted brown hair with curly topknot and side curls above the over-sized ears, large round side-glancing googly eyes defined by all-around eyeliner, high comma-shaped brows, rounded nose with accent dots, closed mouth in beaming "watermelon-slice" smile with accent details, impressed philtrum, five-piece toddler body. Condition: generally excellent, slight nose paint rub. Marks: 899 3. Comments: Germany, circa 1918, the model bears a close resemblance to both Kammer and Reinhardt's 131 googly and their Moritz model, but its maker remains a mystery. The exact doll is shown in the book The History and Art of Googlies, page 148. Value Points: absolutely charming googly with wonderful sculpting of hair, very deeply-defined facial features enhancing the impish expression, original body and wonderful factory-original costume.
