14" (36 cm.) Paper mache shoulderhead with elongated slender throat, oval face, sculpted hair with long curls that tumble onto shoulders, painted blue eyes, black upper eyeliner, single-stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, slender kid torso, upper arms and legs, carved wooden lower arms and legs, antique costume included. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1850. Value Points: fine state of preservation, rare coiffure, rare decorative paper edging of shoulderplate and limbs. A hand-written note dated 1935 relates the history of the doll in the Woodman family of Bangor, Maine.
