11" (28 cm.) Each has carved wooden socket head with defined and painted facial features, muslin body, he with high domed forehead, painted black hair at back of scalp with hole for queue; and she with darkened complexion, painted black hair with chignon and painted forehead bangs. Condition: generally excellent, queue missing, some costume fading. Comments: Door of Hope Mission doll, Shanghai, circa 1925, depicting a young Chinese gentleman of high social rank and lady with rare painting of hair. Value Points: each is wearing original costume indicating their social status.
