7" (18 cm.) Of all wood except original hand-woven rush seat, the chair has painted finish to simulate rosewood, and is decorated with stenciled and free-hand gilt designs on the back rail, stay rail, and front of seat, as well as striping and teardrop finial design on the legs. The chair features the classic curved back frame, rolled back rail and nicely shaped stay rail. Excellent structural condition and fine original finish. American, Baltimore, circa 1820. An extremely rare model of early miniature American furniture.
