Description
18" (46 cm.) Very firm sculpted head with flat-cut neck socket, brown sculpted hair with deeply sculpted forelock curls, blue painted upper-glancing eyes, black upper eyeliner, brown eye shadow, white eye dots, accented nostrils, closed mouth, plump cheeks, well-sculpted ears, stretched twill over paper mache torso and legs, composition arms, antique costume. Condition: excellent condition. Comments: Gunther Heine, circa 1921, of Bad Kosen (same village as Kathe Kruse factory), who advertised art dolls "as beautiful and vital as a natural child". See Cieslik's German Doll Encyclopedia, pages 112/113. Value Points: especially expressive modeling around the eyes and ears, fine original painting.
