Description
14" (36 cm.) Pink-tinted porcelain shoulderhead, cobalt blue glass inset eyes, lightly painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, blonde caracul wig, kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at hips and knees, porcelain arms to above the elbows. Condition: generally excellent, body is sturdy with some patching. Marks: Rohmer(torso stamp). Comments: Leontine Rohmer, circa 1860. Value Points: petite lady with beautiful complexion, original body with porcelain arms, along with her original trousseau preserved in original trunk and featuring four dresses, jacket, various undergarments and accessories including woven cape, miniature sac du voyage, two pairs of Huret-like leather shoes, and more. Included is hand-written note "This doll was brought home to Alice Sophia Chapin by her father...from Paris 1860".
