Description
19" (48 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered base is a bisque-headed doll with brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shaded and accented lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 4 (head) Faust Coeur des Soldats (ink lettered on tune paper). Comments: Leopold Lambert, circa 1885, when wound, the girl alternately lifts with powder puff and mirror she holds in her hands, as though to powder her face and then gaze in the mirror, while the Faust "Coeur des Soldats" tune plays. Value Points: original ivory silk costume with silk beaded accents, bonnet and shoes are original on the elegant musical piece.
