19" (48 cm.) Bisque socket head with very plump round face, dark blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners and nostrils of pointy-tip nose, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, Schmitt composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with flat-cut derriere and straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent, small flake at right pierced ear hole, body finish original albeit scuffed. Marks: Sch (in shield) 5 (head). Comments: Schmitt et Fils, circa 1880. Value Points: an especially beautiful model with luminous eyes enhanced by mauve blushed eye shadow, original body and body finish, lovely bisque, and wearing antique red silk dress with Alencon embroidered lace overlay, undergarments, shoes, and lavish lace ruffled bonnet.
