Description
14" (36 cm.) x 9". The wooden box with lithographed paper cover is labeled on the front "Mercerie", with paper lining and fitted cubicles, and contains within various fabric and textile samplers, along with an assortment of bone sewing utensils, buttons, and trims, and with a 6" miniature bisque doll by Simon and Halbig, and a tinplate toy sewing machine with painted decorations. Excellent condition. For the French market, circa 1900, the presentation box was offered in the French Etrennes catalogs.
