26" (66 cm.) One-piece carved wooden head and torso, very full lower face, strong pronounced nose, large blue painted eyes in deeply defined and outlined eye sockets, closed mouth, pierced ears, carved ears, elongated throat, brunette hand-tied human hair, modeled bosom with unusual defined cleavage cut, elongated waist, wooden arms and legs with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees, shapely legs, sculpted outline of shoes. Condition: there is old restoration on the painted elements, fingers are missing on right hand. Comments: English, mid-1700s, the regal posture and highly characterized sculpting indicate portrait of a specific, yet unknown, person. Value Points: outstanding carving well worthy of restoration; included is original dress with fine embroidery and hair wrap.
