Description
17" (43 cm.) Very firm wood-pulp paper mache shoulderhead, heart-shaped head, elongated thick throat, black sculpted hair in centerpart with four elongated ringlet curls in layered style, and small braided chignon at back of head, painted blue eyes with defined sockets, outlined eyes and brows, closed mouth, muslin/kid body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, spatula hands, painted black shoes. Condition: there is early repainting on face and hair, some body patching. Comments: circa 1830, rare coiffure, original (faded) patterned silk costume with laced backing.
