11" (28 cm.) Brown felt swivel head with pressed mask face, painted facial features, right eye sculpted to appear as though he is winking, painted blue left eye, dot brows, closed smiling mouth, war paint accents, stitched-on ears, brown fleecy silk hair braids, brown felt torso and limbs, jointing at shoulders and hips, five separate fingers, flat bare feet. Wearing flannel tunic and pants with fringed and embroidered detail, purple headband with feather. Condition: generally excellent, few small moth holes on shirt. Marks: (original 1920-1921 silver button at right toe). Comments: Lenci, circa 1920, this variation of the winker model appeared in the 1920 ad in Printemps catalog described as "#2 Indien" selling for 59 fr. (see page 4 of this catalog). Value Points: rare variation of the beloved "winker" with distinctive color of felt doll and artistic painting.
