Description
16" (41 cm.) including hat. Felt head with pressed and painted facial features, one eye sculpted half-closed as though winking, left eye wide open and side-glancing, painted lashes, clown decorated brows and cheek blush spots, closed mouth with wide smile with painted teeth, felt fringed wig under attached green felt clown hat, yellow felt hollow torso and arms for use as hand puppet, green ruffed collar and hands, dangling brass balls. Marks: Lenci, white cloth label and silver label pencil lettered "Bilala" (?), and Kimport label inside costume. Comments: Lenci, the clown appeared in the 1933 catalog model 335/3, the popular winking motif of the earliest Lenci era continued into the 1930 era. Value Points: especially fine state of preservation on the flirtatious winker.
