Description
29 1/2" (75 cm.) Felt swivel head, pressed and painted facial features, brown eyes glancing to the left, dark eyeliner, painted curly upper lashes, grey eye shadow, fringed brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, accented lower lip, rooted bright red hair in short cropped style, very elongated torso and legs, jointing at shoulders, hips and knees, pointed toe feet. Wearing vivid harlequin costume of pink fitted tunic and pants diamond-point appliques in yellow, red and black felt, and with dramatic black felt pom-poms which edge the sleeves and pants and dangle from the skirt, white gloves, red shoes, and floppy pink felt beret with black brim and white flower. Condition: doll is excellent, costume is complete with some fading of pink. Comments: Lenci, the doll was featured in a Lenci 1924 Parisian exhibition "Carnaval de Venise", and in 1925 appeared in the Lenci catalog as model 194, partnered with the previous lot of this catalog. Value Points: rare red hair enhances the generous pom-poms of the rare harlequin costume.
