9" (23 cm.) Felt swivel head, pressed and painted facial features, blue down-glancing eyes, painted lashes, blushed cheeks, closed mouth, blonde mohair wig, tag-jointed shoulders, jointed hips. Wearing folklore traditional costume featuring blue felt dress over white full sleeve dress, embroidered apron, petticoat, pantalets with blue felt trim, blue felt slipper, black felt cap with wide embroidered brim and large rose silk bow, carrying umbrella. Condition: excellent. Marks: (two Lenci paper labels including silver foil lettered 310/114, and tag which is hand lettered Sant. Galles). Comments: Lenci, circa 1936. Value Points: very rare face with unusual gentle expression for this model, variation in lip and eye painting. The actual doll is shown in Lenci, The History and the Dolls by Nancy Lazenby, page 134.
