19" (48 cm.) Felt swivel head, large blue side-glancing painted googly eyes, dark eyeliner with painted curly short lashes, rounded nose with accent dots, "O" closed mouth with pink shaded lower lip, weft-stitched red mohair curls, felt body with jointed arms and legs, starfish-shaped hands. Costume: vibrant felt dress with green bodice, pink/green/tan and brown checkered skirt with scalloped pink edging, organdy multi-tiered sleeves, organdy hooped petticoat with pink edging, pantalets with green and pink edging on four tiers of ruffles, socks, black felt shoes, yellow felt sunbonnet with brown streamers and a garland of colorful flowers, and carrying green cardboard hat box labeled "Amore". Condition: excellent. Marks: Lenci (square label). Comments: Lenci, 1940s era of their beloved googly model, this example known as La Modestina, a tribute to the woman hat makers of Turin during the 1920s/1930s. Value Points: wonderful model with artistic painting and brilliant costume.
