8 1/2" (22 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque torso, very plump cheeks, blue glass spiral-threaded eyes with darker blue iris rims, rose blushed eye shadow, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, slightly-parted outlined lips, two square-cut upper teeth and one lower, blonde mohair wig over plaster pate, peg-jointed bisque arms and legs, modeled bent elbows, shapely legs with bare feet, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 102 12. Comments: Germany, circa 1880, the doll is known as "French Wrestler" in reference to its muscular modeling of body. Value Points: rare doll with exemplary bisque, artistic painting, distinctive body.
