20" (51 cm.) Bisque socket head, very deep brown glass paperweight eyes with spiral threading, thick dark eyeliner, dark mauve eye shadow, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined heart-shaped upper lip, dimpled chin, separately-modeled pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose E.9 J. (and artist checkmarks, head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1885. Value Points: stunningly beautiful with richly-decorated eyes, original wig, body, body finish, and wearing original costume of the Ernestine Jumeau studios, comprising ivory cashmere flannel dress with attached cape edged in fine cutwork and attached underskirt of muslin pleats, gold feather-stitching, pearl buttons, elaborate matching bonnet, undergarments, Jumeau socks, Jumeau ivory satin shoes with gilt E. Jumeau lettering, brass brooch, blue Jumeau earrings, and original Jumeau chemise. The doll is shown in The Jumeau Book by Theimer/Theriault, page 410.
