Bisque socket head, dark blue intaglio painted eyes with black and incised upper eyeliner, white eye dots, short feathered brows, rounded nose with accented nostrils, closed mouth with defined painted teeth between the accented lips, brunette mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique multi-layered folklore costume and apron, undergarments, woven shoes (one shoe missing). Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Germany A 5 M. Comments: Marseille, circa 1910, from their very limited series of painted eye character dolls created during the short-lived art reform movement of the 1910 era. Value Points: especially fine quality of bisque, painting and modeling, with very expressive portraiture.
