Description
10" (25 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head with two alternate faces: one face with sculpted orange hair in bobbed fashion with forelock curl, blue glass side-glancing googly eyes, dark eyeliner, painted long curly lashes, one-stroke brows, closed mouth with watermelon slice-shaped smile; the alternate face with blue glass sleep eyes, painted lashes and brows, closed mouth with modeled tongue tip and teeth; composition baby body, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Hertel and Schwab for Strobel & Wilkin, circa 1912, the modeled hair face, model 165, was inspired by the illustrations of Grace Drayton. Value Points: rare double-face model with delightful googly face.
