15" (38 cm.) Bisque socket head portraying a smiling child, painted facial features including slightly side-glancing blue eyes, dark upper eyeliner, one-stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with smiling expression, defined space between the lips with painted teeth, impressed cheek dimples, brunette mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 151 S&H 2/0. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1910, from the firm's prestige art character series. Value Points: lovely and rare-to-find art character has choice bisque and especially fine detail of modeling highlighted by deeply-impressed cheek dimples, original body and body finish, wearing antique costume comprising lace-bodice dress trimmed with bretelles, petticoat, panties, stockings, shoes and wonderful woven bonnet with floral trim.
