Description
16" (41 cm.) overall. Each has bisque socket head, blue or brown glass inset eyes, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, open mouth, four tiny porcelain teeth, wooden block torso with bellows mechanism, wire upper arms and legs, wooden hands and lower legs with painted blue shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: S (pb in star) H 4600 Germany. Comments: Schoenau and Hoffmeister, circa 1890. Value Points: the pair is wearing original matching silk and lace jester costume, holding cymbals in hands, and when stomach is squeezed, they clap the cymbals they hold.
