Description
15" (38 cm.) h. x 13" w. x 10"d. 27" with chimney. The cast iron framed stove with heavy tinplate side and front walls has cast iron stove top with two burners and a copper lidded water heater pan; the front features two oven doors with intricate brass hinging and knobs, smaller door for coal/wood, brass water faucet, and a maker's name plate "Allez Frers, Constructeurs 1 R. St. Martin Paris". Excellent condition. French, circa 1880, the Allez firm, 1805-1930s, of Paris was famous for their kitchenware including stoves and copper ware, and is said to have furnished the kitchens of the great hotels and homes of France during this time. This example, given its intricate construction, likely began as a maitrise model or salesman's sample.
