38" (97 cm.) Bisque socket head with very round plump face, blue glass sleep eyes which operate from lever at back of head, dark eyeliner, delicately-painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with pale outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair wig over Steiner pate, Steiner composition fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: J. Steiner Bte SGDG J. Bourgoin St. Sie C 8. (head, incised and red ink script) J. Steiner (eyes) 8 (impressed number on pate). Comments: Jules Steiner, series C model, circa 1882. Value Points: the rare size bebe was likely created as Exhibition Model, with finest pale bisque, rare signed eyes, original body, lovely antique costume.
