Description
16" (41 cm.) Wax-over-paper mache shoulderhead with alternate faces of wide-awake and sleeping (one face showing, and the alternate hidden under the enclosing cap), blue glass eyes, painted features, slightly-parted lips, tiny teeth, blonde mohair wig, cloth torso and upper limbs, composition lower limbs, pull-string crier. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, Carl Bergner, circa 1880. Value Points: the doll is wearing original liturgical costume of patterned ivory silk with very elaborate metallic embroidery, including cap.
