Description
10" (25 cm.) Solid domed paper mache head with flat-cut neck socket on original composition shoulder plate, black enamel inset eyes, single-stroke brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, blushed cheeks, muslin torso and upper limbs, wooden lower torso and lower arms and legs with loosely-jointed limbs, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Sonneberg, circa 1860, the taufling baby was inspired by the Japanese child doll that had been recently introduced at the 1851 London International Exhibition. Value Points: very dear little doll with original body and beautiful complexion.
