Description
22" (56 cm.) Presented under a glass dome on black ebony base is an elaborate gilt ormolu arch with figural doves, flowers, wreaths, mirrors and garlands, all of which center a blue velvet tufted cushion with filigree frame, and upon which is resting a poured wax baby with painted facial features, wearing an elaborate gown with embroidered lace and gilt metallic embroidery. Excellent condition. French, circa 1880, the presentation globes were more often found as "globe de mariee" symbolizing a young couple's wedding; this example is uniquely arranged in its all original presentation.
