Description
34" (86 cm.) Firm-textured composition head with flat-cut neck socket and solid dome, oil-painted hair, complexion, and facial features, short brown side-parted hair waved across the forehead, painted blue eyes in deeply-set sockets, brushstroked brows, closed mouth with solemnly-shaped lips, attached to felt body with jointing at shoulders and hips, antique costume. Condition: head is excellent with original painting, slight separation at side seam below right ear, body is mis-sized and not original. Comments: maker unknown, head is late 1880s. Value Points: most artistic painting of the expressive-faced child.
