Description
11" (28 cm.) doll. 13" x 9" box. 7" mirror. A presentation box with lavish rose silk faille covering and ivory rope trim, hinges open to pale blue silk interior, that is containing a bisque swivel head poupee with blue enamel eyes, painted features, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, shapely kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at hips, stitched and separated fingers, is wearing her original muslin chemise and earrings. Arranged in the box with the doll is an original Psyche mirror with hinged sides allowing the mirror to tilt back and forth, and with silvered frame having a repousse design of winged Cupid and maker's stamp on the backside; along with two additional costumes, undergarments, bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 2/0. Comments: Gaultier, circa 1880, the presentation box and contents were created for the luxury trade.
