Description
8" (20 cm.) h. excluding wig. Solid-domed paper-mache shoulder head with oval-shaped
face,elongated throat and modeled bosom has black painted pate,brown glass inset eyes,lightly-
feathered lashes and brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with shaded lips,original brunette
hand-tied human hair wig. Condition: generally excellent,one horizontal craze line at back right
shoulder. Comments: Germany,circa 1830,possibly Voit for the French market,the head may
have been created as an exhibition sample,as indicated by its size,coiffure,and fine state of
preservation having always been preserved under glass dome which is included. Value Points:
serenely beautiful face is enhanced by the extraordinary original and elaborate coiffure with
decorative beads,ribbons and braids.
