Description
9 1/2" (24 cm.) Two pressed metal lions with gilt finish are attached to a painted-tin Roman
chariot with two spoked wheels,original green painted finish with colorful flowers and gilt
edging. Standing in the chariot is an all-bisque girl with swivel head,blue glass enamel
eyes,painted features,white mohair wig,peg jointed bisque arms and legs,wearing her original
aqua silk flowing gown with gold metallic trim and crown,holding wand in her hand. When
wound the chariot should roll along as though pulled by the lions,driven by the hidden clock
gears beneath the chariot. Condition: generally excellent,mechanism functions well. Comments:
French,circa 1890. Value Points: very rare luxury toy with beautiful finish and costume well
preserved.
