Description
18" (46 cm.) Honey-toned poured wax shoulderhead of adult woman with slender face, glass bead eyes, elongated throat, modeled bosom, on padded and cloth wrapped armature form with attached cast metal stand, wax hands, stylized mohair wig. Condition: very good, some frailty of silk gown. Comments: French, circa 1915, from an exhibition of dolls created and presented to illustrate the splendor and artistry of French couture. Value Points: the doll is wearing her original attached gown of green and coral silk with ruffled tulle edging, black muslin shawl with fringe, wide brimmed bonnet with tulle, feathers and berries which match the berries in her basket. With original ink-script paper tag "Epoque Louis XVI 1776".
