Description
10" (25 cm.) One-piece wooden head and torso with domed crown and heart-shaped face, small pointy chin, strong elongated throat, defined shape of high waist, midnight-brown hair painted smoothly over the crown with wisps of curls all around the forehead, painted brown outlined eyes, aquiline nose, closed mouth, dowel-jointing at the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, painted green flat shoes, wearing early high-waist summer gauze dress with matching ruffled capelet, silk bonnet. Condition: well-preserved original finish. Comments: probably Obergammergau region of Europe, early 19th century. Value Points: wonderful detail of hair enhances the pronounced heart-shape of face, lovely original costume. Private Collection of Louise Hedrick.
