Description
17" (43 cm.) Porcelain shoulderhead, black sculpted hair in elaborate arrangement with scalloped curls framing the face, painted blue eyes, red and black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, sculpted bodice with gilt accents and sculpted gold Iron Cross, muslin body, antique gown of tulle and lace, matching coiffe with streamers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1882, the doll portrays Empress Augusta, wife of Emperor Wilhelm, the first woman who was awarded the "Iron Cross", according to research by Marianne Cieslik.
