Description
32" (81 cm.) Posed atop the wooden platform roof of a red and blue show wagon which is decorated with elaborate gilt designs of chariot races, driven by man with two-part head, unusual extended-length moustache, additional jointing at knees allowing seated pose and being pulled by a pair of dappled wooden horses with amber glass eyes and red and tan leather harnesses, are three performers, each with oversized head, painted facial features and wooden body with jointing at hips and shoulders, and original costumes. The figures include Baby with laughing expression, Jockey with large googly eyes, wide beaming smile and red striped jockey hat, and Foxy Grandpa with topknot and side burns, painted spectacles. Excellent condition. American, Schoenhut, 1908, very rare to find especially in this complete state and very fine original state of preservation. Private Collection Keith Kaonis.
