Description
13" (33 cm.) Lithographed cloth doll head with printed curly hair and facial features, blue upper-glancing eyes, painted lashes, brows, eyeliner, eye shadow, outlined nose, and smiling red lips with row of tiny teeth, with tousled curly hair, the stuffed head attached to commercial muslin body with stitch jointing at shoulders and hips, red muslin sewn-on stockings and brown muslin sewn-on shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American, circa 1900, the printing method is in the style of Arnold Print Works and may be a special commission for advertising purposes from that firm, as the finished doll is factory original. Value Points: rare doll in fine state of preservation, wearing original red cotton Buster Brown costume and cap, with antique button advertising Buster Brown shoes.
