Description
8" (20 cm.) l, overall. Posed upon a wooden platform with metal spoke wheels is a firm-bodied grey plush elephant with curled trunk, tusks, and blanket on head, pulling a wooden animal cage with spoked wheels, lettered "Menagerie" sign, and interior tiger. Condition: generally excellent,. Comments: Germany, circa 1900, similar toys appeared in the grand manufacturer's catalog of Julius Engelhardt of Coburg (see lot #368.1 of this catalog). Value Points: wonderful miniature early toy in well-preserved condition. Private Collection of Marianne Cieslik.
