Description
8" (20 cm.) Two-part paper mache head with red felt ear muff, unusual painting of eyes and clown decorations, smiling expression, bald pate with tacked-on cap, jointing at shoulders and hips, painted red shoes with upturned toes. Excellent condition. American, Schoenhut, 1906, earliest period Clown from the Humpty Dumpty Circus, wearing wonderfully-preserved red and white polka dot clown costume with yellow ruffled collar, and having original gilt Dresden decoration on the suit; the is clown is very rarely found especially in this pristine condition.
