Description
17" (43 cm.) Porcelain shoulderhead of adult lady with oval face, elongated throat, black sculpted hair with full side wings drawn into a loosely coiled chignon at the back of her head, painted facial features, soft blue eyes with red and black upper eyeliner, closed mouth, muslin stitch-jointed body, porcelain arms to above the elbows. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1860, the doll was inspired by the "Swedish Nightingale" Jenny Lind. Value Points: very beautiful doll wears a superb early tulle gown with ivory taffeta train and unusual decoupage medallion of a woman encircled by embroidered daisies.
