Description
16" (41 cm.) Honey-toned poured wax shoulderhead of adult woman with black bead eyes, slender face, elongated throat, modeled bosom, on padded and cloth wrapped armature form with attached cast metal stand, wax hands, stylized mohair wig. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1915, from an exhibition of dolls created and presented to illustrate the splendor and artistry of French couture. Value Points: the doll is wearing original attached bronze-green silk gown with front panels of patterned silk with interwoven flowers, trimmed with ruched delicate silk ruffles and green velvet bows, with lace hankie, white beads and headdress of feathers and flowers. With original ink-script paper tag "Epoque Louis XVI 1777".
