Description
10" (25 cm.) Pink tinted solid domed porcelain swivel head with flat-cut neck socket, matching porcelain shoulderplate, painted midnight-brown hair in short baby fashion, twill upper arms, midriff (enclosing bellows) and upper legs, porcelain lower arms with cupped hands, hips and lower legs with bare feet, lovely antique costume; when squeezing bellows, the doll cries "mama". Condition: chip and hairline on shoulderplate, otherwise excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1865. Value Points: rare to find the early taufling, considered the precursor to classic articulated child doll or bebe, with entirely original body.
