5 1/2" (14 cm.) x 4". The painting on porcelain depicts two young children seated on a cushion and sharing a picture book, with rich vibrant colors. Condition: excellent. Marks: (KPM Berlin mark). Comments: KPM Berlin, late 1800s, after an original painting from an 18th century German painter Christian Leberecht Vogel depicting his sons Carl Christian and Friedrich; the original painting was so popular that Vogel painted eighteen additional paintings of the same scene. Also included is a children's German book, 50 Fabeln fur Kinder, c. 1900 with the same image on the cover. Private Collection of Marianne Cieslik.
