Description
29" (74 cm.) Bisque socket head with light-amber tinted complexion, slender face and throat, side-angled narrow eye cuts with brown glass sleep eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted curly lashes, incised eyeliner, black brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils, open mouth with outlined lips, four porcelain teeth, pierced ears, amber-tinted French composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: SH 1129-13 Dep Germany (head) Au Nain Bleu (silk label inside jacket). Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1895, from their Asian series of portrait models, the model was deposed in 1893. Value Points: extremely rare-to-find in this large size 13, allowing most felicitous expression of highly-defined features, dimpled chin and mouth, fine lustrous patina on the flawless complexion, wonderful antique Moroccan costume with coins and beading.
