Description
17" (43 cm.) All felt with stitched-on head, square-shaped face with defined ears, stitched-on white felt eyes with black beads, long nose, stitched-on point hat, hollow body designed for use as tea cozy, jointed arms, stitched-on felt costume with red felt bodice and green felt skirt, white apron. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Steiff (button in left ear, and remnants of white tag). Comments: Steiff, circa 1910, from early comic strip character series, the doll represents Mama from the Katzenjammer series which evolved from Max and Moritz. Value Points: rare early character in especially fine state of preservation. Private Collection of Marianne Cieslik.
