Description
12" (30 cm.) Bisque head with flat-cut neck socket that accommodates to dowel atop the original composition torso, very plump face, blue glass spiral threaded eyes with darker blue outer rims, painted lashes, delicate rose eye shadow, lightly feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shaded lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over original Schmitt pate, composition body with eight-loose-ball jointing and flat-cut derriere ridge, straight wrists, lovely costume and additional rose silk costume included. Condition: generally excellent, body finish is worn. Marks: 2/0 Bte SGDG (head) BTE (bottom derriere). Comments: Schmitt et Fils, circa 1878, their earliest period bebe, and with BTE marking indicating the model was registered with the French courts. Value Points: rare early Schmitt bebe with beautiful expression, with original body, in charming size.
