12" (30 cm.) h. horse. 14" h. overall. A bisque portrait head depicting George Washington has painted facial features, tiny dark blue eyes, aquiline nose, firmly set lips of closed mouth, white mohair periwig, wooden block torso, arms and boots, posed seated on a flannel-covered paper mache horse with dappled coat and original harness and saddle blanket. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Dressel, circa 1890, from their series of American hero dolls. Value Points: very fresh and all-original condition, George with original classic costume, and the horse with removable head for the toy's original purpose as candy container.
