11" (28 cm.) Paper mache head hidden behind hinged outer face of child with painted features, wooden block torso with bellows which, when squeezed, causes the outer face to drop forward, revealing the face of an old woman below, also with painted facial features and deeply-defined age crinkles, original costume, painted black boots. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1890. Value Points: rare little novelty doll with well-characterized features. Private Collection of Marianne Cieslik.
