Description
16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head, brown glass sleep eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, open mouth, four porcelain teeth, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, metal torso enclosing mechanism which connects with hinged metal legs, rollers hidden at base of feet. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: S&C 6 1/2 Germany (head) DRP No119 857 Patent Aller Lander (bottom of feet). Comments: Franz Schmidt, with Imhoff mechanical "new self-walking body No 1071" from Ferdinand Imhoff patent of 1902. Value Points: all original and rare to find key-wind walking doll, functioning well, lovely antique costume, shown and discussed in German Doll Studies, pages 197/198.
