Description
25" (64 cm.) All cloth doll with pressed and oil-painted facial features to depict President George Washington, having blue painted eyes with heavy eyelids, tinged brows, aquiline nose, closed mouth with strong lips and jaw, impasto thickly-painted white hair that forms into a pony tail at the nape, cotton sateen body cover, stitch-jointed arms and legs, oil-painted hands and feet with defined fingers and toes, wearing white woolen and lavender suit with lace jabot and cuffs, black stockings and shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: The Chase Stockinet Doll Made of Stockinet and Cloth... (original paper label on back). Comments: Martha Chase, circa 1900. Value Points: the rarely found doll is perfectly-preserved in original costume.
