21" (53 cm.) Carved wooden socket head with bald pate, defined facial features of handsome aged man with well-set eye sockets, blue painted eyes, aristocratic nose, firm closed mouth and jaw line, and having carved very full brows and sideburns, wooden body with swivel waist, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips, knees and ankles, carved black shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, mid/late 1800s. Value Points: well-defined features, original painting of complexion and features, articulated body, and wearing original gentleman's costume.
